Intelligems Raises $9M to Fuel the Profit Growth Platform for Ecommerce Brands

We’re thrilled to announce that Intelligems has raised $9 million in our Series A round, led by Stage 2 Capital.

This capital will fuel our mission to allow ecommerce companies to make profit-maximizing decisions across every touch point on their site — be it pricing, discounting, shipping, merchandising, or customer experience. We’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished in the last 4 years, but we feel like we’re just at the starting line, and this funding is fuel for what comes next.

How we got here: from price testing to profit growth platform

Before building Intelligems, we spent 4 years building dynamic pricing systems in the ridesharing industry. When we left to start Intelligems, we immediately saw an opportunity to help ecommerce brands be more data-driven and dynamic in how they priced. During customer research, they usually stuck a finger in the air and said “we guessed” when asked how they chose their prices. (Fun fact: the SpongeBob image below was in both our seed AND series a deck). So we launched with a simple idea: test your prices to maximize profits.

While price testing was the biggest profit lever in ridesharing, we quickly realized ecommerce has a bunch of other levers to pull on. We added the ability to test shipping rates, offers, as well as discounts/promotions. (turns out free shipping usually isn’t worth it!). In 2023, with Google Optimize sunsetting, we jumped at an opportunity to build a tool where brands could conduct profit-driven A/B testing on anything, launching our Content Testing product.

In the meantime, profitability has become the absolute top priority in ecommerce as costs have risen and capital has dried up. What we’ve been building is more necessary than ever — just look at how much disruption tariffs are throwing into the mix for ecommerce companies. Or how inflation has caused a renewed interest in price elasticity and economic market forces. Brands aren’t just proud of growing topline revenue anymore; they’re proud of growing profits.

And what we’ve built is a tool to do that: What started as a price testing tool has evolved into a full-fledged Profit Growth Platform. Today, we’re powering thousands of Shopify stores and working alongside industry leaders like Ridge, Dagne Dover, Momofuku, and Original Grain — helping brands not just test, but personalize and optimize aspects of their site to better engage customers and drive profitability.

What’s next?

The long game

This Series A raise is a major step toward our long-term vision, where Intelligems makes a profit-maximizing decision on every single online shopping session — whether through hyper-personalized experiences, AB tests, dynamic pricing, or otherwise.

Today, many online stores still operate like a brick and mortar location — every visitor gets the same layout, the same product selection, and the same offers and prices. We firmly believe that this will be fundamentally different — and far more dynamic — in the next 5 years. For each visitor, a completely personalized version of the store will render, replete with custom offers, discounts, and prices. Intelligems will be powering these experiences.

After years of working with Shopify brands, and with tens of billions of shopper data points under our belt, Intelligems is uniquely positioned to power this shift. With this funding, we’re accelerating our roadmap and building the infrastructure to bring this vision to life, faster.

The near future

One of our first investments was to bring on the team from AI-driven A/B testing platform AB3, founded by Avi Muchnick. We loved their vision to use AI to both boost testing velocity and reduce overhead work. The team and product will help us deliver results even faster for clients.

The acquisition will also accelerate another ongoing initiative: making our platform more accessible. We’ve built a platform for power users and want to make sure that power is available for our entire customer base.

The first major effort here is a complete overhaul of our analytics suite, featuring a much faster data pipeline (hello, real-time data), more visibility into statistical significance and confidence, the ability to track custom events and metrics, and much more. Analytics 2.0 will start rolling out this week.

We’ll also be rolling out a “recipe library” of different tests and personalization ideas that have been tested and proven by other brands, with easy instructions on how to put them together. This will let customers plug and play with Intelligems to unlock value faster, without a learning curve.

To support these plans, we’re also planning to ramp up our headcount and bring on more folks to our outstanding team. We’re hiring across multiple departments, including engineering and data science, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you or someone you know are interested.

Gratitudes

Every Friday, we finish our company meeting with a round of gratitudes for one another. This is a great moment to share some publicly.

If one thing is clear from this post, Intelligems has been a journey. We’re grateful for everyone who has invested in that journey. That includes:
